Sony DSC W55 Can you Zoom in while taking video?
The answer here is no. You cannot zoom in or out while you have the camera recording video. This was the question that was asked recently by one of my viewers and I wanted to share it here with my readers.
A few years ago I was able to connect the Sony DSC W55 camera via USB cable and use it for a live stream. That was a lot of fun and it appears that a big sector of users are interested in this old vintage camera.
Out of all the great functions, this camera does not support the zoom feature while recording.
In regards to connecting the camera for live streaming. I made a full tutorial video. A step-by-step on how to connect the camera.
I used the Pinnacle Audio Video box to capture the video via USB to the PC for the live stream. It was a nice little project. It was delightful to receive real-time feedback from those who had the opportunity to watch the show at that time.
Who is this SONY camera for?
Personally, I appreciate the vintage vibe and aesthetic of photos and videos captured with a dedicated camera. The compact size of such devices makes them incredibly convenient to carry around. Whether you store it in your pocket, luggage, suitcase or any carrying case, it's always accessible. With so many people relying on their phones for quick snapshots, it's nice to have a specialized camera for capturing certain moments.
A common issue that has been brought up by numerous individuals is the camera's dependency on Memory Stick Pro for taking pictures and filming videos. Unfortunately, this type of card is not compatible with many PCs. In fact, most modern PCs do not even have an SD card slot, let alone support for memory sticks.
1) If you have the cable that the camera came with. You can connect it to the pc and from there look for the file folder and transfer photos and videos that way.
2) Buy a dedicated card reader. make sure that it can read Memory Stick Pro Duo. Insert it into the reader and connect it to your pc and find the file folder that way.
