How to record better sound at concerts
How to record better sound from live concerts or extremely loud areas. Have you ever filmed a live music event with your phone or small camera? If yes, then you know that sometimes the audio is terrible from that recording. This video will help you get a better audio recording.
This first method requires a pair of scissors, tape and a light fabric material. An old t-shirt or any light material would do the trick. Step one is to locate the Mic, this is usually one tiny hole or three small holes in the shape of a triangle, sometimes two. Step two is to cut a small piece of fabric to cover the Mic. Step three, take a piece of tape and tape the fabric to the mic opening.
This should do the job well. It is not the best solution, but it beats not having anything filtering the sound. You can take it a step further and edit the sound in post production.
Method number two, requires a dslr camera that will allow you to control the audio levels of the mic. For this example, I used the Canon T3i dslr camera. Whichever camera manufacturer you go with, be sure to check the specifications to see if the camera has this feature. Step one, go into the camera menu system, for the Canon set the dial to camera icon. Go to the menu, on the second menu tier, scroll down and set Sound Recording, go to Rec. level and tap it to the left until you hit two. Now that the mic level is set to low, you can record loud sources and get a cleaner sound.
